INTRODUCTION TO GRINGOLAND
What is Gringoland?
Gringoland was designed and created by Rafael Berica in 2014, a passionate
traveler who saw in your experiences around the globe the need of seeing the
places he visited behind some local's eyes. It is cool to climb the Eiffel
Tower but it is equaly awesome to visit the underground catacombs in Paris. It
is beautiful to see London from the top of London Eye, but it is even cooler to
attend the free walking tour to better understand the streetart all around the
city. That is why Gringoland was created, for you to avoid any crap tips from
your Gringo friends who can easily put you in a Gringo Trap (please see Trap
definition in our 'Donkey's dad' section) in Brazil and help you see the 'Oh So
Right' things in here and show you the real and most cool Brazil you could ever
meet.
What does 'Gringo' mean at all?
Gringo is a portuguese word (more a slang than a word) used to call foreign people.
It doesn't matter if you're from the USA, Germany, Japan, India, Costa Rica,
Chile or Australia, in Brazil you will always be treated by GRINGO! It is true
that the probability of being called Gringo is higher when you come from north
american and european countries, but this distinguition is being lost as the
number of Gringos visiting Brazil increases year after year. So, this is great
news, isn't it? You didn't even stepped by Brazil and you already have a
nickname. What a warm reception! So make yourself home and be welcome, Gringo
:)
